According to an article published in The Mirror, the UK looks set to be hunkering down with a new crop of tiny pests. Predicted to be by our bedsides by summer, we could be in for a few itchy months. Deemed as being a kind of flea double act, we can now expect the bothersome bed bugs to be accompanied by some super – flea friends according to experts.
Speaking to the paper, a specialist said, “The mild winter provided ideal breeding conditions for the insects, which can sneak into sheets, clothes and carpets.” He then went on to say “Temperatures all over the country have been much warmer this year. That could lead to a significant increase in the pest population. Many will have come out of hibernation early to begin reproduction.”
Well if the thought of Super fleas makes you feel at bit uneasy then the discovery of 2ft mutated rats will no doubt leave you in a cold sweat. Said to be immune to conventional poisons, this new breed of ‘super rat’ have caused much havoc and unrest around a number of residential and commercial properties. In an article posted on the BBC News website it was reported that two giant rats were captured in a factory in the East Midlands. It was thought due to the abundance of food the rats were able to grow to more than double the size of common Brown rats. This came in the wake of the ‘Bradford Behemoth’ or “Ratzilla” that was caught earlier in the same month.
