The seasons are starting to change, and this means that we are going to start seeing more London’s pests inviting themselves in to our homes to take shelter and find food. Not something you want to think about, that’s for sure, but you will need to deal with them…or will you? Here are some ways that you can keep those freeloaders from moving in with you!
- Check doors and windows
Doors and windows present common ways for pests to come and go in your home. There’s no question that it’s no fun at all to redo the sealing on entryways, but cracks and splits are definitely an easy way for pests to get inside. So, make sure your door is well secured with no weak spots, and that your widows are also well protected. This will help keep you ahead of the game.
- Watch for holes outside and inside
Holes on the outside and the inside of your home can give all sorts of pests access to your home. So, take a look at your internal and external walls before the autumn sets in and fix any weak points or outright holes that are three. It doesn’t take too big of a hole to cause a problem, but it is…so get ahead of the game and keep yourself safe.
- Keep your garden in check
Make sure you keep your garden well tended and trimmed back. This will keep the rodents away from your home in the sense that they won’t have any reason to come onto your property in the first place. Essentially, an unkempt, cluttered or overgrown garden is like a giant neon sign pointing to your home when it comes to rats or foxes.
- Put traps out
This is something that is a good idea despite how you may feel about them. It is especially important given the ever increasing rodent population in London, and will help keep them under control through the autumn, reducing the chances of them getting inside. Better to have to deal with a trap than a full blown pest infestation, after all, right? It may not be the ideal situation, but it’s definitely a good idea to consider if you are truly concerned about it.
These are some of the best ways to keep your family and your home safe from invaders this autumn. You can experiment and find which ones work best for you and your lifestyle, and think about how to make the most of your time and resources while prepping for winter.
