May is officially Lyme Disease Awareness Month – and here at Empire Pest Control , we believe that ticks are something that people all throughout North, East, South and West London – and the rest of the country, too – need to be aware of.
Lyme Disease is a condition that is transmitted through tick bites, and as climate temperatures in the western world rise, the tick population does too. Awareness about Ticks and Lyme Disease, in general, needs to happen to ensure the public knows how to react in case of a bite.
With generic symptoms of a rash, fever, general headaches and fatigue, Lyme Disease can often be misdiagnosed. Left untreated, it can lead to heart problems, reduced cognitive ability, and chronic pain.
Empire offers pest control services in London and throughout the South East, and although ticks aren’t likely to infest your home, they can certainly live there with ease.
If you have been walking through long grass, camping or have visited wooded areas then there is a possibility you may have come into contact with a tick. Ticks can survive for up to two years without feeding, so if one has attached itself to your clothing and ends up in your home, you might not be as safe as you imagined.

Other Biting Pests
There are many other pests that bite, including bed bugs, wasps, mosquitoes, ants, and spiders.
A bed bug infestation in your home can be cause for distress and take a long time to ensure eradication on your own or by using shop-bought measures. Our bed bug control London service is available 24 hours a day to ensure that your home is pest free, as soon as possible.
When it comes to other pests that bite, such as wasps, spiders and mosquitos, these insects and creepy crawlies are much easier to spot. The audible sound of wasps and mosquitoes is enough to alert someone to their presence and with the right preventative measures and behaviour, you can prevent them from biting. When it comes to spiders, while many have the capacity to bite, they rarely get close enough to a human to bite and very few have venom that can harm us significantly.
That being said, if you are experiencing any issues with any of these pests, in North, East, South or West London – and the home counties, too – then please do contact our team on 0800 633 5220 today to discuss your pest control needs.
