Disposal should always be the last resort when it comes to infested mattresses and furniture, as it’s often not needed. There are a lot of treatment options you can consider to get rid of bed bugs before you have to throw away your furniture. Put everything in the laundry that you can, and use the highest heat setting to kill bed bugs. They are very sensitive to heat. If you vacuum vigilantly, that is also a must. Make sure you always empty the cylinder regularly outside to prevent any of them escaping back into your home.
If you keep the infestation contained in one room, they are much easier to get rid of completely. You should ideally assume that every piece of furniture in the room you’ve isolated the bed bugs to is infested. Bed bugs are sneaky, and will infect any furniture within their immediate area.
If you do decide to dispose of your furniture or mattress:
In this case, there are certain steps you must follow. You have to make sure you remove all signs of bed bugs from the item before you do anything else. This will limit the bed bugs spreading. Once you have done that, slash or damage the item to let people know there’s something wrong with it. Just in case they try to take it from outside your home.
If you can, seal furniture in a plastic wrapper before you move it out of your home, then leave it outside for the waste collection.
